About CIR Plant
CIR Plant is a curated reference database for phytochemical research. It catalogs medicinal plants, their solvent extracts (e.g. chloroform, methanol), and the individual chemical compounds identified through analytical techniques such as LC-MS.
The platform is inspired by reference projects of medicinal plants and their role in medicines discovery. It provides:
- A searchable catalog of plants and families
- Records of extracts with extraction protocols and identified components
- Per-compound pages with molecular data and links to PubChem, ChemSpider and KNApSAcK
- An admin panel for researchers to add, edit, and bulk-import data from Excel
Workflow
For each plant, the extract (chloroform/methanol/etc.) is analyzed to identify its components. Each component is linked to multiple online databases to study its structure and properties. Supportive data such as fragment ions, retention time and intensity values are stored alongside the compound entries.
